<image:caption>Georgia Barnes’ book, When I Stopped Running, She Found Me. A Birth Mom's Story, helps readers step into the shoes of those they serve, thereby fostering empathy and a deeper connection. Georgia wrote her book so that the reader would understand pregnancy centers. Weaving in her personal experience as someone who, as a teen, lacked that support, she shares how it has affected her life for decades. Georgia feels when we connect with the individuals behind the cause, it ignites empathy and drives deeper, more meaningful support. Supporting the ministry she values, Georgia is donating 40% of the proceeds of her book to RETA. Scan the QR code to purchase her book.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Alea received her Bachelor of Social Work from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona. She will be finishing her Master of Social Work degree in December of 2025. Alea chose to pursue social work because she has felt called to care for the marginalized in society. Her Christian upbringing and involvement in mission trips inspired her to be the hands and feet of Jesus in whatever she does. As of this past June, Alea is newly married to her best friend, whom she has been blessed to have in her life for the past five years. Alea is a high school small group leader and mentor in the foster care and adoption ministry at her church. Outside of work and school, Alea enjoys traveling, anything outdoors, baking, and spending time with friends and family. alea@retaforlife.com</image:caption>

      <image:title>Staff & Board - Amy Yoder, RN: Nurse, Sonographer</image:title>
<image:caption>As one who speaks Spanish and a bit of Portuguese, Amy has a heart for serving the Hispanic community. Having spent most of her career in OB, Amy loves sharing the joy with her clients when they see their baby for the first time on ultrasound. During her studies at Goshen College, Amy was a nurse extern in OB. She has had 23 years of experience at Goshen Hospital in labor, delivery, and postpartum OB. She also was a travel nurse for two years, assisted in home births for about three years, helped teach the clinical part of OB at Goshen College for one year, and was the first Clinical Director and RN at Goshen Birth Center. Amy’s passion is to guide mothers toward choosing life and to support parents in the process. When she and her husband, Jon, struggled with infertility, it opened the door for adoption when they least expected it. Their adopted son, Kade, was placed in foster care just after birth. Although adoption is an arduous journey, they are forever grateful to the birth mom for choosing life and giving them the precious gift of their son, who is now 13 years old. Because of her personal experience, Amy is grateful to be working at RETA whose mission is life affirmative while building Christ-centered families. Amy delights in sharing the Gospel and message of hope with her clients. Amy’s interests include traveling, hiking, scrapbooking, meeting with friends over coffee, and thrift store shopping. Amy and her husband homeschool their son and network with other homeschool families. amy@retaforlife.com</image:caption>

<image:title>Staff & Board - Aubrey Parks, RN, BSN: Clinic Director and Community Health Nurse</image:title>
<image:caption>Aubrey grew up locally, graduating from Mishawka High School and then earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Purdue University. She lived in the Indianapolis area for about 10 years before returning to her hometown area to establish roots. Spending time with family is one of her favorite things to do. She enjoys exploring the local shops and restaurants with her husband and daughter and is always up for a friendly-competitive game night, especially if it involves Trivia or Yahtzee. Aubrey has always felt driven by a strong desire to help others and make a positive difference in their lives. She began her nursing career working at Riley Children’s Hospital and continued to take advantage of endless opportunities provided by the dynamic nursing field. Over the past 18 years of her nursing career, she has gained experience in post-partum, family clinic, urology, oral surgery, and even dabbled a little in aesthetics! As the years went on, she started to sense a lack of fulfillment and felt a calling to shift her current role into something different. Through faith and prayer, she was guided to RETA where she feels she has found her purpose. She is so excited for this journey and cannot wait to see the powerful impact that RETA has on the community! aubrey@retaforlife.com</image:caption>

Her love of mentoring and discipling others combined with her passion for women’s ministries led her to RETA. Cheryl’s greatest desire is to live her life in a way that others can see Jesus. Prior to joining RETA’s staff, Cheryl worked in a variety of office management positions, including Finance and HR Manager at Joyfully Said and Office Manager at Pumpkinvine Cyclery. Her strengths include bringing structure and fundamental organization to small businesses within finance and HR, leadership development, creating a healthy work culture and environment, and team building. Cheryl has been married to her husband Drew since 2009, and they have three children, Jamesen, Kensington, and Micah, and two dogs. They attend Harvest Community Church. Prior to joining RETA, Haley served as a Senior Manager for NAADAC and HMP Global, where she coordinated continuing education programs across a variety of mental health, substance use disorder, and medical disciplines. Haley and her husband became actively involved with RETA in 2025 as volunteers with the Crossroads Recovery program. Through that experience, Haley developed a deep love for the mission and people of RETA and was thrilled to join the team when God provided the opportunity. Outside the office, Haley is married to the love of her life and best friend, Austin. Together, they enjoy an active lifestyle that includes playing tennis (even on days when their competitive spirit tests their patience), visiting the lake, traveling abroad, and spending intentional, quality time with friends and family. <image:caption>Feeling privileged to walk through life with the families she meets at RETA, Joni looks to Philippians 4: 5 – 6 as her anchor passage. Joni listens to her clients with a non-judgmental and gentle spirit, and she helps them sort through life’s difficulties through short-term, solution-focused therapy. Knowing how burdensome life can be for her clients, Joni strives to reduce their anxiety while pointing them to God’s provision. Receiving her Bachelor of Science in Education and Master of Science in Education with a concentration in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Joni is a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors. She is trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, and Written Exposure Therapy. She works with individuals processing through anxiety, depression, grief, and trauma, individually or in group. Prior to counseling, Joni had been RETA’s Client Services Manager for 15 years and its Client Services Director for nearly two years, giving her a combined 20 years of service at RETA. In addition to working at RETA, Joni taught middle school for several years, was a youth leader for 20+ years, and worked as a case manager for individuals with developmental disabilities. Joni finds her balance in life by spending time with family, traveling, walking, gardening, or just taking in nature’s beauty. Married for 30+ years, Joni has two adult children and one grandchild. joni@retaforlife.com</image:caption>

<image:caption>Kathy’s daily goal is to make the grace of an invisible God visible through her interactions with others. Raised by Christian parents, Kathy learned early on to embrace each day with a heart of gratitude and humility. In doing so, she has opened herself up to possibilities for growth, understanding, and love. Earning her associate degree in business management, bachelor’s in education, and master’s in education, Kathy was a high school English teacher for nearly thirty years until she retired. Influencing lives fueled her throughout her career. Looking for opportunities to continue to serve, Kathy sought out RETA because it truly is the hands and feet of Christ. Kathy has been married to her husband, Bryan, for over 40 years. They have four adult children, three daughters-in-law, and eight grandchildren. Kathy is happiest when all 17 of her crazy and chaotic family members are under one roof. Weekly family nights are sacred to her, and they are typically filled with impromptu plays, Nerf wars, too much food, multiple overlapping conversations, and an occasional literary analysis. Sparked by creativity and learning, she enjoys exploring with her grandchildren, painting, writing, kayaking, reading, and gardening. An avid hiker, a couple of her favorite trails are Perseverance Trail in Juneau and the Na Pali Coast in Kauai. Her husband accuses her of trying to make herself a widow by dragging him up and down mountains, but she insists she is keeping him young. kathy@retaforlife.com</image:caption>

<image:caption>Kim earned her Master’s in Nursing from Indiana Wesleyan University and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Goshen College. Her career began as a nurse on the medical surgical unit at Goshen Hospital. She then spent almost twenty years as an obstetrical nurse, fulfilling a passion to help bring life into the world. She then transitioned into her Nurse Practitioner role at North Central Indiana Medical Clinic, in family healthcare. She continues in her position at NCI Medical and has joined RETA part time. Kim and her husband, Charles, have six children, sixteen grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. She loves spending time with her family, boating, motorcycling, and traveling. Kim is excited to bring her compassion and love for helping people to RETA. Her favorite quote is that of Ghandi, which states, “Be the change you wish to see in the world.”</image:caption>

<image:caption>Sarah earned her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction, receiving her administrative license. She has worked as an elementary education teacher, Nappanee Missionary Church Student Ministries Coordinator, International Exchange Student Local Coordinator, and serves on Fairfield Community School Board. Her background in both education and ministry laid the groundwork for her position at RETA. Her mentor volunteer positions, her family’s experiences in foster care, her time writing and teaching curriculum, her leadership at retreats and camps -- all have paved the way to use these skill sets and passions at RETA. People truly are her mission and passion, and she is honored to be used by God in a way that allows her to build relationships with those who come through our doors. Sarah stays busy outside of RETA with her family, and she enjoys gardening, hiking, running, and reading. She is a self-proclaimed podcast junkie and attests that any boring task can be made endurable by listening to a good podcast. She is most content with being outside in nature and taking in the beauty of God’s creation. sarahe@retaforlife.com</image:caption>

<image:caption>Believing that one should never stop learning, Sarah pushes herself out of her comfort zone by trying new things. Even though it might be challenging, it fosters growth. Sarah joined RETA because it allowed her to gain new skills and insight while serving vulnerable and underserved populations. Sarah obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing to become a Registered Nurse. Prior to working at RETA, she was an oncology nurse for two years, school nurse at Goshen Middle School for one year, and school nurse at Prairie View Elementary for 15 years. Always a learner, Sarah enjoys traveling and exploring new places. She also loves reading history because there is so much to absorb from our past. Some of her outlets include baking, puzzles, reading, hiking, and antiquing. Sarah is happiest spending time with her husband, three grown children, and her four-footed child, Olive, a one-year-old Newfypoo dog. sarah@retaforlife.com</image:caption>

Scott and his wife, Laura, share a long-standing dedication to this mission. Laura previously served on staff at RETA, and together they have been strong advocates for life-affirming, family-centered work in our community. Their shared heart for families has been evident through both their professional and personal investments in supporting others. Scott attended Bethel University, where he played baseball and graduated with his bachelor’s degree in physical education and health. Dick’s ultimate mission is to make an eternal difference in other’s lives. A Fairfield High School graduate, Dick furthered his education at Bethel University, Mishawaka, receiving his BA. Dick was a secondary educator and coach for four years. Dick also entered the field of business and worked with Compassion International as National Director of Development. Dick spent thirty plus years in business serving in leadership roles, most notably as President of Troyer Foods and CEO of Stanz-Troyer's. In addition to work experience, Dick has been a church elder as well as a board member for the following organizations: World Compassion Network, Community Foundation of Elkhart County, Das Dutchman Essenhaus, and RETA. As one who enjoys public speaking and personal/professional coaching, Dick shares valuable life lessons with others. Dick has been married to his college sweetheart, Deb, for over 40 years. Cheryl sees herself as an advocate for those who have no voice. During her time as a volunteer, Cheryl helped women find the resources they needed for themselves and their children, and whenever possible, she shared with them the love and grace of God. It doesn’t escape Cheryl’s notice that where she volunteered all those years ago is on the same block where RETA is now located. How awesome to come full circle in a location that honors God and provides services to those who need it. For 25 years, Cheryl has served on RETA’s board and participated in its mission. Watching needs be met has helped her see God in a whole different way. Nothing is out of the question when God is in the center of what we are doing. Now retired, Cheryl and her husband savor all of life’s moments. They have six grandchildren who are in a variety of sports, so they are kept busy attending all the competitions. Cheryl and Jim enjoy bike riding, discovering new trails, and taking vacations that are a full week of biking.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Competitive in nature, Brandon loves basketball and excels in games like Scrabble and Monopoly. Because Lion King is a story of growing strong through adversity, it is Brandon’s favorite movie. Brandon was born in South Bend, Indiana in 1993. He graduated from Clay High School and went on to Indiana University at Bloomington, graduating as a double major in political science and economics. He then attended Valparaiso University School of Law and completed his Juris Doctorate in 2018 as an honors scholar. Since earning his degree, Brandon has primarily practiced family law, criminal law, and estate planning. Fueled by the amazing and sure promises of God, Brandon’s favorite Bible verse, one that always calms his anxious heart on restless nights, is Jermiah 29:11: “’For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’” Relishing in God’s greatest gift, to be His adopted child, Brandon wants to share that good news with all people. Serving on RETA’s board is one opportunity to intentionally live out his faith.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Joan is the owner/president of Personnel Partners, a staffing agency specializing in office/clerical placements for businesses in St. Joseph and Elkhart counties. That business started over 30 years ago when she was working in the industry opening offices for another large regional firm but also starting a family. Unable to maintain a healthy work/life balance, Joan and her husband Randy, the CEO of Samaritan Center, chose for her to open her own small business, which turned out to be the most rewarding and challenging decision they could have made. That decision allowed Joan more flexibility in raising her three children, who are all now grown, and hiring an operations manager gave her the option to become more involved in community work. Joan serves on the advisory boards for Samaritan Center, The Salvation Army, and Church Community Services. She also is involved with a community project called Feast to Feed and has served as an instructor for the Young Entrepreneur Academy of the Elkhart Chamber. Since Joan’s daughter Katie joined the business three years ago and has transitioned to handling most of the operations, Joan enjoys the freedom to support other organizations close to her heart, such as RETA. It is clear to her that RETA’s ministry is not only rare but holy. She is excited that other communities are asking how to duplicate what is being done in Elkhart, and she believes RETA can be the heart of a healthy community.</image:caption>

She has spent six years as an RN in the Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Beacon, five-and-a-half years as a Pediatric Primary Care Nurse Practitioner at Beacon Pediatrics on Bristol Street, and she is currently working in Pediatric Neurology at Beacon since the spring of 2021. Laura’s entire career has been spent caring for children. It has given her the privilege of building relationships with children and their parents over time. Laura enjoys the opportunities to educate parents regarding the care and development of their growing children; in the same way, she loves teaching children about how they can make healthy decisions in caring for their bodies. Serving on RETA’s board has been a humbling and rewarding experience that has contributed to Laura’s faith journey. She feels blessed to have witnessed God’s faithful provision for RETA through the changes and growth over the last few years. It has been wonderful to observe God move and provide in ways that only He can. Laura appreciates RETA’s care for mothers and their unborn children with its emphasis on educating and supporting young parents and families. She is excited by the recent expansion of RETA’s services for pregnant women, as well as the developmental surveillance and education RETA is implementing. She cannot wait to see what comes next as RETA continues its mission of building Christ-centered families. Laura enjoys being active, traveling, and exploring the wonders of God’s creation. Bonus points if hiking or kayaking are involved. She also enjoys working puzzles or game nights with family or friends.</image:caption>
